Unleashed Update
Tom Price, Elder
Our Unleashed Campaign began in the fall of 2007 with a commitment of $308,000. It officially ended this past spring with $232,000 in total contributions. Adding in interest and repair funds from the previous Matchbox owner (Domino’s), we have a total of $236,000 available. Some funds are still coming in. Additional donations are greatly appreciated and will help us improve our campus even more!
The projects (and project leaders) that have been completed are:
-Matchbox (Stacy Scott, April Miller): Major renovation inside and out and new furnishing and decorations.
-Playground (Bob Bittner): Improved drainage, and new surface material, playground equipment, and fence.
-Sidewalk (Roy Lynch): New steps, railing, and retaining wall.
-Worship Center (Craig Osterhus): New sound system, stage lighting, and improved electrical system.
-Signage (Jon Miller): New signs on front and back of Worship Center, Education Building, and directional signs.
-Fellowship Hall (Contractor): New roof
-Outreach programs: We experimented with some promotional/advertising campaigns but decided not to pursue them.
We have spent approximately $200,000 of the funds, leaving about $36,000. The current projects that we are working on are:
-Fellowship Hall (Val Everett, Dennis Day): Repaint the meeting area, install new flooring throughout the main level, and refurnish. This project is almost complete.
-Worship Center (April Miller): Repaint, add a visitor’s center, and install new ambient lighting.
Our current estimate is that these projects will cost about $20,000 leaving us around $16,000 for other projects. We will complete the above projects before beginning any others so that we will know more accurately how much money is available.
Potential candidates for the remaining funds include:
-Kitchen: Add cabinets, open a door between the kitchen and the ice maker room, increase the counter space, and possibly upgrade some of the appliances.
-Meeting area: Landscape an outside gathering area/patio with tables and benches.
-Landscaping: Replace/improve some of the bushes and planting areas.
-Driveway: Replace the asphalt by the Worship Center.
-Fellowship Hall: Provide handicapped access to the main level.
We want to recognize all the volunteers who helped make this possible. Contractors were used where necessary, but C4 volunteers did much of the work. I expect that these projects would have cost twice as much had we not had so many capable volunteers.
We have received many compliments regarding the renovations. They have really improved the appearance and functionality of our campus. Thank you to all who contributed your time, talents, and funding.
